Health and Aged Care Facilities

Highly specialised flooring needs in healthcare environments demand exceptional performance, comfort and OH & S compliance.

Godfrey Hirst has developed carpets that are extremely durable and meet the differing needs of healthcare requirements. Godfrey Hirst Healthcare carpets are manufactured using Statron® Solution Dyed BCF Nylon. Carpets can be manufactured using the following optional backings: synthetic, a 3.66 metre wide functional liquid barrier, a 1.83 wide composite sheet (suitable for areas of extreme incontinence and dementia) and modular tiles.

All Godfrey Hirst Healthcare carpets installed using the direct stick method will comply with the building code of Australia specification C1.10a. The Building Code of Australia defines Critical Radiant Flux (CRF) as "...the critical heat flux at extinguishment as determined by test method AS/ISO 9239-1-2003.  This means Statron Healthcare products can be used in all patient and aged care facilities either fitted with sprinklers or not fitted with sprinklers.

Statron Healthcare carpets have been independently tested for push/pull forces. The force measurements were all under the maximum recommendations acceptable to the Snook and Ciriello (1991) Report.

Statron Healthcare carpets are treated with an anti-microbial formula and comply with AATCC test method-174 - Antimicrobial Activity Assessment of carpets.  This means the carpet will inhibit the growth of E-coli, Staphylococcus Aureus, Niger and Klebsiella Pneumoniae.

Statron Healthcare carpets are all low VOC emitters that comply with Green Label and Green Label Plus criteria. Total VOC readings are well under the required 0.5mg/m²/hr for all backing options that means the carpet is assisting in maintaining a quality indoor air environment.  VOC Emission testing has been performed by a certified independent laboratory and detailed results can be provided on request.

Statron Healthcare carpets have superior resistance to colourfastness, soiling and staining due to the inherent properties of Statron Solution Dyed Nylon. The carpet is also treated with Stain Warden that restricts the absorption of stains and odours ensuring easier cleaning and extended appearance retention.

All Statron Solution Dyed products are treated with an anti static agent providing a comfortable environment for residents and staff.  It is also recommended that a consistent & effective maintenance program be implemented as this will assist in extending the life of the carpet. Godfrey Hirst can provide assistance to customers to develop a program appropriate to their use.

Long carpet life begins with proper selection of carpet for the specific application, giving consideration to both aesthetics and maintainability. Custom-made carpets can also be manufactured to suit individual interiors for a minimum quantity of 1,500 square metres.
