Godfrey Hirst is nothing if not fashion forward, as our latest high profile carpet design commission will attest. Approached to produce a custom carpet for the Alice McCall 2017 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia runway show, our talented textile designers couldn’t wait to get started on such an exciting project.

London-born Australian designer, Alice McCall, launched her eponymous label in 2004 and enjoyed almost instant success. Celebrated for her flirty, frilly and fun ensembles, McCall is not only the preferred playsuit maker of Beyonce and favoured frock creator for Kylie Minogue, but she currently stocks over one hundred and sixty speciality stores and boutiques in ten countries across the globe. Not too shabby for someone who began selling one-off pieces at London markets!

‘Bon Bon’ is her sweet but edgy Resort 2017-18 collection, showcasing silhouettes that borrow from the 1940’s and ’80’s - think exaggerated curves and shoulder pads. Renowned for her quirky aesthetic, the Alice McCall look relies on a melange of tactile fabrics and surprising colour combinations.

The design team at Godfrey Hirst were briefed to reproduce a beautiful Alice McCall floral pattern on carpet the length of the modelling runway. Encapsulating the eclectic ‘Bon Bon’ theme, this bespoke carpet was a riot of flowers in muted blues, apricot, rose and porcelain beige with sunshiny pops of lemon, edges of lilac and gold, all bordered in a deep ocean blue.

Once again employing our market leading Designer Jet™ technology, we were able to produce this colourful and detailed floral design onto a 2m wide cut pile carpet which, along with ensuring fewer visible joins, is rated commercial extra heavy duty, making it the perfect surface for indoor public spaces.

Godfrey Hirst proudly promote the flexibility of our Australian first Designer Jet™ capabilities, where the choice of colour, pattern and design are limited only by the imagination, and cut pile, loop pile or a combination of both in the one commercial carpet can be easily manufactured.

Our Designer Jet™ commercial carpets are all Australian made which requires a shorter lead time ensuring a timely production turnaround and cost effective choice for custom design.

Featuring an incredible depth of colour, stain resistant finish and exceptional colourfast properties, Godfrey Hirst, remain at the forefront of Australian flooring innovation and are delighted to bring the Alice McCall ‘Bon Bon’ fashion vision to life.
