The bright new home of Tarina Wood, aka Oh Eight Oh Nine
Interior designer and content creator Tarina Wood, the face behind Oh Eight Oh Nine, has spent over a decade immersed in the world of interiors. A former photo media student turned designer, she’s worked across display homes and residential projects, building a loyal following drawn to her calm, inviting aesthetic.
With a clear vision for her new home from day one, light oak tones, soft layering and simple, streamlined finishes, Tarina spent nine weeks overseeing everything from electrical and landscaping to decking and flooring, documenting the process for her online community along the way.
One of the most frequently asked questions from followers was around her choice of flooring. After having lived with timber, hybrid and vinyl plank floors in previous homes, Tarina knew this time she wanted something that not only looked warm and natural but also delivered on functionality. Tarina chose Godfrey Hirst’s Polaris 1500 range in colour 110 Pearl Oak, a glued down vinyl plank that, in her words, “ticks every box.”

Tarina explains that going carpet-free meant she needed a floor that still felt soft and peaceful underfoot. She also loved that the direct stick application didn’t require scotia or expansion joints, allowing for clean edges and long, uninterrupted lines through the home’s 22-metre hallway.
While she still loves the natural beauty of hardwood, Tarina says the durability, ease of maintenance and price point of vinyl plank made it a great choice for this home.
The colour she selected, 110 Pearl Oak, is a light, natural oak tone with soft variation in grain and knot detail. It looks beautifully understated across the home’s main living areas and bedrooms, adapting easily to both warm and shaded light.
