Nat Wheeler, alongside Kristy Sadlier, are the brilliant minds behind norsu Interiors, a successful art and homewares store specialising in Scandinavian design.
Godfrey Hirst is incredibly excited to feature Nat’s new home renovation for the launch of the Open Home, our new interior design series deep diving into some of our favourite design projects.
After buying an original Californian Bungalow in 2017 and making some quick and temporary renovations, Nat and her family embarked on a second and final renovation, documenting her journey along the way. Godfrey Hirst are very lucky to have come on board as a flooring supplier of engineered timber and wool carpet throughout the home.
The use of engineered timber Corsica Oak in the colour 510 Coastal Oak provides a bright and neutral foundation for the array of colours, artwork, and Scandinavian shapes in Nat’s light-filled home. Throughout the stunning open-plan kitchen, the muted green joinery is complemented by the striking tundra marble countertop and the natural grey knots within the Corsica Oak engineered timber.
The wide stretching Corsica Oak floorboards lengthen the hallway and living space, making the home feel welcoming, connected, and perfect for entertaining. The floorboards also serve as a solid foundation for the high foot traffic areas in the home.
“I have to say, this hallway’s become a favourite place for Harvey to kick his football.” – Nat
For the bedrooms, Nat chose Tranquil Texture in colour 713 Summer Rain, a light grey textured wool carpet, to accompany the neutral bed linen and curtains in the kids' rooms, but also to allow for the muted pink in the primary bedroom to shine.
"Not only does it look good, but it's highly practical. With two kids and a little cavoodle, the loop pile and the little flecks of different colour, it’s super forgiving.”
The primary bedroom is all about colour and texture. With the warm pink paint colour spanning the walls and ceiling, the bedroom feels inviting and homely. Utilising texture and natural materials, Nat has featured velvet in the cushions and the occasional chair, linen curtains, a mohair throw and wool carpet to create this cosy atmosphere.
We have loved touring through Nat’s home! You can follow @norsuinteriors on Instagram or head to www.norsu.com.au to see more of Nat and Kristy’s design style!
