As carpet and flooring fanatics, lovers of interior design AND Blockoholics, The Block NZ is a magical time at Godfrey Hirst when we get to blend all three. Follow our weekly room reveal recaps from The Block NZ : Villa Wars. We'll talk about carpet and flooring choices made by each of the couples and share tips and advice to help when choosing carpet for your home.
Brooke and Mitch, Sarah and Minanne chose Godfrey Hirst carpet for their guest bedrooms. You can find the products they chose, information on carpet features and where to find stockists on our website.
Brooke and Mitch
Brooke and Mitch made a great choice with the solution dyed nylon carpet in charcoal. Grey carpet is one of our most popular carpet colours that is right on trend at the moment. It's a neutral colour with a bit of personality that goes well with most colours in the home. The darker colour really warms the room, especially when teamed with the sea grass wallpaper. Keeping the other walls off-white meant they they could be playful with colour in the cushions and furniture.
A bold artwork might have done a better job at pulling the oranges and chair colour together and a bedhead in a contrasting colour against the wallpaper. But it's a great space and a solid start for the first week.

Sarah and Minanne
Sarah and Minanne selected Godfrey Hirst eco+ carpet. The Silver Birch carpet colour was a great choice and worked perfectly with that gorgeous headboard and throws and the vibrant orange in the cushions and chaise. An artwork or plant pots to match the purple in the walls would have helped to give the colour some context, without anything to complement it the walls were left looking a little lairy.
Cat and Jeremy, Jamie and Hayden each chose Feltex carpet for their guest rooms.
Winners: Cat and Jeremy
We had to agree with the judges decision, Cat and Jeremy were clear winners. They chose a 100% Merino wool carpet It's a beautiful neutral colour with a textured rib pattern, it's luxurious carpet and as a natural carpet fibre, wool has many inherent benefits. Using the artwork for inspiration, the pastel palette works beautifully with the grey walls and warm, neutral flooring. They created a cosy sanctuary complete with a cushioned window seat, plenty of storage and native plants.

Jamie and Hayden
These guys made some brave choices, with dark walls against the painted timber feature wall, which made for a fun first room reveal. While we love the colour and texture of the Feltex rug, wall to wall carpet might have worked better to warm and soften this space. Apart from that (and a lack of storage) we loved the pops of bright red and green.
With Jamie and Hayden being so adventurous this early in the competition, we can't wait to see what they come up with next.
