GFLOI and GLAM Visit

Earlier in May, we were fortunate enough to again host 2 groups of students from the Geelong Future Leaders of Industry (GFLOI) and Girls Leading Advanced Manufacturing (GLAM) who are interested in exploring the manufacturing industry, and the diversity of careers that it can offer. We have hosted these groups previously in 2021, and the feedback was that it was a great day to see behind the scenes one of the world’s largest flooring company and Australian manufacturers.

Anything is Possible

This special experience for the students begun in the morning with Aaron Dawson, the manufacturing manager from the factory, taking them through our state-of-the-art facilities and seeing how many career opportunities there are in a key figure in the manufacturing industry like Godfrey Hirst.

For example, some of our long-term employees that have worked here for over 20 years spoke to the group about the opportunities that you can give yourself, and the knowing that anything is possible.

We were lucky enough to have Allie Guy, the tufted carpet designer from the factory, explain to the students what her day-to-day tasks involve and how she started her career at Godfrey Hirst.

Being able to get a first-hand look at how carpet is manufactured right here in Geelong provides a great behind the scenes into a local carpet manufacturer that is the world’s largest flooring company.
