Kelly Thompson's Blue Bedroom Retreat

Melbourne-based illustrator, keynote speaker, and interior stylist Kelly Thompson has a wealth of creative experience. With her refined eye and distinctive sense of style, Kelly has transformed her home into a space that blends artistry with thoughtful design, with her bedroom serving as a standout example of a colour-rich, ethereal retreat.

For the bedroom, Kelly selected triexta carpet Winter Charm in 835 Seafront, a soft blue colour, that harmonises with the blue walls, curtains, and vibrant colour-drenched palette.

The space combines layered textures and carefully curated accents, including silver bedside tables, organic ceramic sculptures, and plush furnishings, to create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

“Some may say it’s criminal to cover old floorboards, but there is something pretty lovely about carpet underfoot in a bedroom,” Kelly reflects.

This project highlights how carpet can add colour, warmth, softness, and visual cohesion to a room, demonstrating the transformative effect of flooring in residential interiors.
