The Block NZ - Week 8: Backyards

No carpet or hard flooring to see this week, folks. As we get close to the end, tempers are running hot and many of the teams are feeling the pressure of budget constraints.

Sarah and Minanne

The judges were not that impressed with Sarah and Minanne's space and scored them accordingly. They got top points from their fellow contestants which gave them a confidence boost and their first room reveal win. Winning features were the lovely plants, the timber boxes with hanging plants and the seating area. Considering these guys are the worst off financially, they did a good job.

Jamie and Hayden

Jamie and Hayden had the largest space to work with, prize plants and trees and scored a much needed win. A lawn to make any backyard cricket enthusiast salivate, lovely trees that will screen the space when grown and a paved area for sunbathing or dining made a beautiful addition stepping off their deck. A really lovely extension of their home, works stepping off the deck, this space will be well sought after from buyers with families.

Cat and Jeremy

With less space to work with Cat and Jeremy created a quaint, intimate space with fruit trees, raised garden beds with vegetables all surrounded by a white picket fence. A lovely green lawn wraps around the house with a charming stone border and once the trees that line the fence are grown, it will be a lovely private space.

Brooke and Mitch

Jamie and Hayden took away any hope of Brooke and Mitch winning when they took away their points in the weekly challenge. Their goal was to create a simple space and they certainly did that with just a small lawn and trees on the border. The judges liked their full width steps leading into the backyard from back door and the little sunbathing zone.

OK, that's enough back yard talk, next up is the Entries, Kitchen & Dining designs.
